Slamin' Tranny "HELP"

I have a 93SHO 3.2 Automatic
Between 1-2 shifts it slams.. Not all the time
doesnt matter if it is cold or hot, but when it hits it feels like i just got re-ended. And sometimes it feels like it is slipping from 1-2.
It is not predictable it comes and goes. Trans was flushed, motor mounts checked, sub frame
bushings replaced.
One more scarey thing is that i'm driving down the E-way the car will downshift
on its own. not just one gear mind you all the way down engine screaming, but it comes back up
seconds later (neutral saftey switch was replaced no difference) ,just looking for some pointers from somebody, I'm thinking electrical
but who knows........

Well if downshifting was the only symptom I would say VSS, but since you have the bad 1 - 2 also I would say your bands are slipping and it is time for a rebuild. It could still be the VSS though. Run the codes on the car and see what codes come up.

my 94 atx did the SAME thing, until overdrive stopped working, and the slipping became sliding, and then ****, had to locate a tranny.. I used a 62K replacement.. GOod Luck, sounds to me like the trans is on its way out!
