yesterday on the way home from cardinal glennon i saw a silver gen3 heading north and i was just wondering if it was anyone from here on the forum. i said something to my wife about it and she just rolled her eyes. also saw a green gen 2 outside farmington and then this morning a white gen2 here in town. three SHO's in two days is unusual for me.

The 3.8L Continental/Sable/Taurus from the early-mid 1990s all use the same MAF and MAF sensor (starts with F1ZF if I remember correctly).

Have you've tried cleaning the sensor elements?

Did you remove the MAF sensor from the housing? Removing the two small stainless steel screws from the top of the plastic sensor housing will allow you to remove the sensor and clean it directly. If you didn't physically remove it, once you do you will see why.

Advance Auto and Autozone both carry the following MAF sensor cleaner by CRC Industries:

CRC Chemicals Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner (Net. Wt. 11 oz.)
