The Dearborn cops called this afternoon. My car was discovered by the Southfield police - other than "Southfield" I don't know where it was found.

Of course the door lock was popped...scratched the paint...bastids!
The ignition cyl. - Busted
The stereo and all 4 speakers - gone...Bastid!
The drivers door panel - gone...Basti!
The passenger airbag inboard trim piece - gone...Bast!
The spare tire - gone...Bas!
The sunroof trim - Busted...Dirty rotten Ba! Thats gonna be a tuffy...
The center consol - Busted...B!
The list goes on...but thats all the letters from the word BASTARDS!.

All in all, it's OK. I have my car back...I don't have to drive a 4banger Contour. I have a grey door panel to use while I hunt for a black one. The sunroof can stay closed until I can get the trim replaced...might have to paint a grey one; I can't imagine finding an undamaged black one for less than $50. The lock Cyl should be easy enough....but I need a whole steering column to replace the housing that was smashed...!

Thank you very much for putting a sticky on this...I guess you can remove the sticky status.
And thanks to Ross towing for charging me $100 to tow my car 3 miles and hold it for 3 hours...how'd they know thats how much cash I had in my wallet?!?!

Now I'm going to post replies to the statements made since I last checked the thred...I'll do it in a new post...scroll down.

damn that sucks......I'll let mario know. I'd keep a lookout for you, but I'm never in MI anymore.

Also does this car have any distinguishing marks, dents, stickers, etc. I can put this on other local detroit car forums that i visit.

And from a gated community...

If you live near an expressway onramp, get countermeasures.

Southfield and Ford roads.

Hopefully, it'll turn up in the D with light damage...

Yeah- I'll keep my eyes open for the Taurus with bubbling 1/4 rust...

Seriously though- that really sucks. I'll watch over in the G-Rap if anything comes around. I also put out an email to our towing division who works with tons of other towing companies statewide to look for it.

Good luck!

I doubt id be near me but ill keep a look but, keep you eyes on ebay and all those car selling/part sites too. Check every day, and as much as I hate to say it watch for certain parts off it such as your front or rear bumper that has distinguishing marks. Of if you see parts ask if their parting a car and what color ext and int it is saying you need X parts.

No cameras? Usually theres cameras on all the license plates that come through the gate. Get the time frame it wouldve happened, and check all the plates that were'nt residents?

That blows good luck finding it. Hopefully it wasnt destroyed.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes...I got my car back.

Jonnycash...I asked them for the footage but they said:
A. If we had any, you would need a court order (since it's my GF's residence...not mine).
B: We took the cameras out because our lawyers said it implied liability (meaning I could sue them for letting it get stolen).

I found 4 roaches in the cup holder. The back seat was filled with home air filters and humidifier elements(I assume they were legitimate gifts from the perpetrator...watch ebay in the near future). The way they went through the interior leads me to believe they thought there was contraban hidden in the spaces underneath panels. The carpet was lifted up, the trim pieces were all loose or missing, the trunk liner was folded in - away from the body.

Figured everyone would be curious on what I found...

That's fantastic news that you got it back, it's just a shame they did so much damage in a short amount of time - but I suppose it still runs so that is a plus!
