Bought for my daughter after a year of good driving on a 2004 Bonneville SLE. She loathed the brown interior and seems ecstatic about black (and much better looks). Currently has 153,000 miles and I got it for $6,500 so hopefully that is a good enough deal. Bought from a smaller dealer so I snagged a warranty expecting the worst and getting the 150,000 mile service done in a few weeks just to be safe.

Wife and I just switched from a 2010 Ford Explorer to a Toyota Highlander due to the water pump failure and then the rear A/C so I am taking a bit of a gamble with Ford again. Ford will always have a place in my heart but damn if the price for servicing these vehicles isn't getting out of hand.

Yeah the price will get you drawn into one every time. You need to look at getting the PTU lubricant serviced soon. That is a BS Ford lifetime fluid that is not even close. And don't let a technician tell you differently. Go elsewhere if you have to. Those things need to be vigilantly maintained. Look around the interwebs for this. In fact at this mileage I would get all drivetrain fluids and the coolant changed if you don't have proof it has been maintained. This is a mileage that you don't want to let stuff go since you don't know who had it before you.

This is a high failure item. If you get the Ford service manual original recommendation and we're not going to do it, find a place that will. There is extensive posting about this issue here and in other places regarding this issue.
