I'm trying to pull the silencer cone on my 89, but it won't come out! I've tried pulling it towards the turn signal and working it through, but it's too long and won't come out of the outter air box in the amount of space there is. I can't get it through the turn signal, there is a black cover behind it. I've heard I can take off the inner fender, but I don't feel like doing that just yet. any suggestions on an easy way to get it out? Thanks!

I think on the Gen 1's you are pretty much stuck with removing the fenderwell. Don't panic! Its easy! It will only take 5 to 10 minutes and you dont even get any bloody hands from this! Good Luck!

yep, just undo the first 2 phillips screws, and pop part of the fenderwell out. It'll drop right down onto the ground and you can do a nice 3 point shot into the trash.

When I took mine out I was lazy and didn't want to remove the fender. I just and to pull like a mother f'er to get it off. Should have taken off the fender it makes the job very easy.

i did both of mine without pulling off the fender. it was a b*tch but it will come out i stuck a tire iron in the hole and broke it up and the parts will fall out the bottom. you can also pull that wheel covering open so you can fit your hand up there, from under the car. But you must turn the wheel all the way to the left. good luck
