my 95 SHO needs the 60K service done on it for the first time. ( 130K miles. Oops. ) But I have also noticed it has a short puff of smoke when I start it up. An article I found in another web site confirms my suspicion that it needs new valve seals. Put all that together and I've got a lot more engine work than I feel like tackling.

Is there ANY good SHO shops in So. Cal ?

I will highly doubt that any mechanic will do valve seals for you. A light puff of smoke at start up doesn't mean that your engine is falling apart. You might even get that to go away by switching to a highmileage formula. Your 60k, you can do yourself and save a butt load of $. Is your SHO an ATX (automatic) or MTX (5 speed)?

Doug,

It's an automatic.

Maybe it's because it's my primary car and I always feel under the gun, but....things never seem to go as planned with this car.
It took MONTHS for me to get the brakes working right. It turned out to be rust in the rear calipers.
It took three attempts to get the rear valve cover on , after changing the plug well seals and valve cover gaskets. The passenger rear corner would always slip out of place as I fought with all the CRAP at that corner. Of course I didn't know until I put it all together and test drove it. Three tear aparts in 2 days was not fun. Looking at them now, I'd say they are leaking slightly all over. Maybe the covers need to be retightened. I don't know. That means removing the intake...AGAIN.

I found this site:
http://www.shophoenixproject.com/stemseals/stemseals.htm

And it said doing the seals would take 7 hours to do, once he got everything apart. SHEE-IT! And I would need tools from the Rotunda kit, which I don't have.

The 60K valve adjustment will need some of those tools too.

I have no problem working on my 92 Jeep. I have a 65 Mustang all torn apart waiting for a trip to a body shop to start a restoration.

It's just this dang SHO that seems to NOT fix when I work on it. Maybe I've just lost my confidence with this car.
