Winter is coming and I desperately want to be able to shut off the stability control on my non-pp sho. Any thoughts?

Yeah,,,, I can't get rid of it completely on Brick.... Much of the time.. traction control actually helps. Really have to tune it to get beyond better numbers w/o TC on. Consider it a Ford function that saves you $$$$$ in un-waranteed AWD claims!

Two quick presses on cars with the PP will put the car in "sport mode". With the car stationary and brakes applied, pressing and holding the button for more than 5 seconds will completely disable the traction control on PP cars.

I cannot really imagine wanting to turn off the stability control on an AWD car in the winter unless you are in an empty parking lot and want to have some fun. Even if you're stuck the stability control/traction control should help out.

By the way, the owner's manual explains how to enable/reduce/disable the stability control on the PP versus non-PP cars. If you do not have a copy of the owner's manual you can download one here. The section in the manual also explains what to do if stuck in sand/snow/mud.

For those of us with non-pp SHOs, we can turn off traction control but not stability control. With the traction control off you can spin your wheels all you want but if you enter anything other than a mild drift, the ESC will cut power and/or apply brakes to reign it in.

My Lexus RX300 had Nokia snow tires and was a blast to drive in the winter.

The first thing I do in my non-PP car when I start it is to turn off the traction control... That said, I cannot make the wheels spin like you say... at least not during summer. The AWD makes it impossible to burn out tires.
