Should I paint my slicers?

A few days ago my dad came by with his 92, and it had white slicers...white car....looked pretty good...

I've painted rims before and they've turned out great I am just wondering if you think silver w/ white is better or white w/ white.....

Personally, I think the white gen 2s with white slicers look cheap. I dont know why, just doesn't turn me on much. However, my buddy's white 93 with white 17's looks damn nice.

I totally disagree. I have a 93 white sho with the white slicers and think it looks awesome. There isn't any other colored car in my opinion that looks good with color matched wheels. The only exception are black cars with black wheels, but I prefer them to have a polished lip. Although, I don't think black slicers with a polished lip on a black sho would look good. Actually the black basketweaves look better

Just think, a blue car with blue wheels, red with red, yellow with yellow, all UGLY.

White with white looks hot.

Theres my blue 92, painted the wheels with the dupli color rattle can, has stood to my cheap pressure washer too.

A lil update...originally I was going to paint over the stock paint on the wheels but my friend who thinks he's a big balled auto painter now because he's primered his hood told me to use air craft remover...

So I did. It took forever and I had to sand most of the **** off....and after about 2 hours of sanding, and an hour of painting....it's dirty atm and I hope it'll come off but for how long it took I should have just GOT them painted or left them alone lol.

paint slicers?

I wouldhave used epoxy primer first!! Then a good 2 part polyurethane. Then a clear.
But I would rather polish the aluminum if possible instead of making fake steel wheels out of aluminum wheels.

White slicers on a white GEN 1 IS hot IMO.
I went from the silver to the white slicers and it made a big change for the good.

Paint will probably chip. Get them powdercoated. You'll like it better in the long run.

painting slicers

powder coating can chip, especially from smooth surfaces, and often will chip easier than will a good urethane over epoxy primer as it tends to be less flexible. Powder coating is great for items that are difficult to paint as it will get into areas that are difficult to reach and will deposit an even coating. It may be hip, but its not the answer all the time. Colors tend to be limited too.
I found Imron over epoxy primer to be very chip resistant and more weather resistant. I have used it on wheels 20 years ago and they still look good, no yellowing, no chips. :****:

Thatt's pretty cool, Herman. But it only works for you Gen 2 guys.

Like Scott said, color matching doesn't work with most colors. I remember in the early 90's when GM had color matched wheels on the Camaro RS models. Picture a red on red, or the worst was the yellow on yellow....

After seeing the blue 92 with the gunmetal rims i gave it a shot on mine. Ive got a green 93. Man what a difference. I used the duplicolor wheel paint and their clear coat for wheels. Cleaned and sanded teh wheels with wet or dry fine grit and the applied 4 coats of paint. 2 coats of clear. It took several days for it to finally cure i guess because of how humid it is here(texas) but its come out great. You would have to try really hard to get it to run or chip. That paint is almost idiot proof to apply and the results make slicers and their centercaps look brand new. Duplicolor makes that stuff in black silver gunmetal copper and white. Paint ur rims with that, its made for it and lasts.

Dammit, I need a digital camera so I can show y'all my rattle-can job on my 92. And it only cost about $5 to do all 4 wheels. Wal-Mart cheap paint...worked great, though I like flat black rims. The best part is, when I do my brakes, the brake dust just makes em look better, and the only problem I've ever had with chipping is in removal of the center caps. I just wesn't careful, at all.
