I purchased an Equal Length Ypipe from ShoSource the other day, which I must say.. its a great product! It is very well constructed, I only have one issue. I just installed it onto my 1990 3.0mtx and one of the downpipes is resting against my oil pan. I'm worried about the vibration from the engine and pipes rubbing here. Plus this can't be good for my oil temperatures. Any ideas? Anybody else had an issue? Did I do something wrong?

Here's a pic of it. It's metal on metal right now. I gave it a test drive before welding the pipes up(just clamps) and I am hearing some vibration.. i thought it was just cause of the clamps and air escaping but i'm starting to think it was that pipe rubbing on the oil pan instead.

Please PM your order number and when it was purchased.

This was a problem before but they have since been changed to prevent this. We have sold quite a few others and no other feedback of this kind.

Did you do anything to try and place it better?

Where is it rubbing? It looks like it cleared the drain bolt but I am not sure where it is rubbing. Can you point it out?

You do have a little "wiggle room" when installing the Y pipe by leaving the bolts loose until you find the best fitment.
I have played this game before with the old "SHO SHOP" equal length pipes.

Yes it clears the bolt.. i'm more worried about it being HOT and the vibration.

Maybe some type of exhaust wrap could help?

Can you loosen the pipe at the manifolds and get some room to play with? It looks like a few mm is all you need.

Is it clamped or welded in place? I remember the old sho shop unit as well. I think I was able to cut a bit off one of the pipe ends to get a smidge of clearance and then reinstall. You have to work it during install and get an eye for where you can get a little room.

It does help but are you able to push it forward? Able to make any adjustments? There is a room to adjust it and should clear.

Well, i loosened the bolts tonight and put a pry bar in-between the pipe and the oil pan and gave it a few tugs till it made a little gap. Then I tightened the bolts back and welded the Ypipe up(no more clamps). I think it will hold now and not cause anymore problems.

Thanks for the quick response Loudsho! As I said before... Very nicely built and i'm one **** of a happy customer =)

I thought about doing this at first but I posted because I wanted to double check that I didn't do something wrong before I started messing stuff up! haha

thanks again!

yes its a close fit, the newer designed ones fit better then the older style ones as mentioned

I've had both and I am very happy with the changes SHO Source made......

there is room to move it around and you should be able to clear the oil pan, your barely even into it... that is nothing! the pipes and manifold connection have a lot more play in them then that.

this is the new design one
