I ordered a rebuilt transaxle from shoshop It grenaded in 8000 miles. Altho Vadim clearly advertises Rebuilt transaxles in his guide log and on the net (shoshop.com, drivetrain) he only rebuilds the transmission and mates it with a return core differential which is uninspected and of undocumented wear and milage. It is further stated in the web site that the expected life of the differential is 200000 miles. The core that I sent him with a bad 2 gear synchro had 186000 miles of hard use. BY his own statements he mates a rebuilt transmission with a expected life of ?150000 miles with a differential with ? 14000 miles of design life left. and charges 1000 dollars for the priviledge. He states that he gives a reference list of parts he replaces. I am not a mechanic .I dont know the internals of a differential or transmission I only know there were tranny and differential parts on that list. I did not know as Vadim did of the probability of old differentials grenading because of previous hard use and persistant lack of lubrication over its life causing erosion and excessive end play in the spider gear shafts causing failure and catastrophic results. I got a differential that vadim could have easily installed a pin kit for 40.00 but he finds it easier to blame it on abuse over the 8000 miles I had the transaxle and not the perhaps 186000 miles it had with ?hard use by the previous owner. Then he refuses to take any responsibility.I cannot tell anyone to boycott shoshop ,even though that would achiev my ends, because he is the only source of a lot of sho speciality equipment but I would urge people to try to find alternate suppliers or deal with hi distributors who are more accssesible and responsive such as josh or fpm. Vadim is egocentric has a low opinion of people giving advice on the forums he calls them a bunch of "garage mechanics"Cincy sho is a gas station and used car lot ect.In my opinion he is not responsive at least in my issues with him and I would urge caution in dealing with him. Pay by credit card and get everything confirmed in writing and educate yourself it what you want and what are you really getting. He does not deliver what he advertises. ANd some of you may remember he is sometimes bad wrong as in stating as he still does on web and print that you cannot convert a 3.2 to a mtx. So buy from him if you must but do your research and question, question, question Thanks Jim

Wow. Sounds like quite a bad experience. I can't judge the competance of the SHOSHOp, but have found them to be unresponsive. I tried to order a stainless Catback from them, but couldn't. I spoke to them 3X and left messages. They said they would call back with availability, but never did.

I finally said screw it. I bought a Scott Performance stainless cat back for less money, better quality, and an overall friendly experience with Joe Scott. I urge folks to use SP motorsports. These guys actually care.

I would use SP as well. My first experience with the SHOshop yeilded my car being down for two weeks while I waited on a timing belt and other essential parts. Then, when I got the belts, they were the wrong ones. I ordered power pullies and belts and they sent me the pullies with stock belts. When I called them they asted stupid saying "You didnt ask for underdrive belts." What do they expect when you order UD pullies and belts? Oh yeah, did I mention that they made me pay for the UD belts after that?

Joe is incredible. Might not be as heavily into the SHObusiness as before but is a topnotch guy nonetheless. He's called me on the way to his kid's soccer practice, on his cell, before all these national plans. He'll make sure things get to you on time. He has gone out of his way to get me parts I needed overnight, to my shop. He's extremely honest to where he'll recommend not selling you something you don't need.

I don't know about SHOshop's problems, I've never had any with them. But I'd HIGHLY recommend Scott Performance. boink

I have always had a good experience with SHOshop. I will admit, when I first got my car I was skeptical because of what some people said. After reading everything on the SS site, I felt confident enough to do business with them. I have been satisfied with all of my purchases. When my y-pipe was out of stock, Tom called and let me know when I would be getting it. Tom is also very prompt on responding to e-mails. I give SHOshop a thumbs_u .

Great service from SP Motorsports here, too!
Um, Mark... there's OVER 2 years of delay between the Joe Scott Endorsement & your concurring... Asleep at the wheel? :)

I second Joe as a great vendor. He's always been a pleasure to do business with.

thumbs_u I was up late one night and wanted to find a few of the oldest topics on here and see if anyone noticed they were from late 2000.

I had a great ordeal of a time with the lash caps when installing stage II cams from shoshop. One of my clearances was near nil with my smallest shim. When I ripped the cam out, I compared some lash caps and one was a lot different than the other. It took 2 more shipments of lash caps of which no lash caps received were the same size as the other 23. It was close enough to get correct tolerance with a 2100 shim which had to be ordered, and it's been gravy ever since. Tom has been more than helpful on the phone. I'm sure he has to deal with a lot of crap. On the otherhand, Who is this Vadim guy and where does he live?

Picking a slam against a SHOforum supporting vendor from a topic 3 years ago is probably not the best way to play "guessing games". Thanks a lot.

Honestly Tom, I had no bad intentions with the post. I actually didn't even read any of the replies except the last one of GregR praising SPMotorsports. I know that SP is an authorized SHO Shop reseller, so I figured it'd be ok to pay them a compliment.
Sorry to drudge up the past.

Old skeletons suck...don't they ss?

SS wouldn't be getting this kind of press had everything been handled well. Hopefully you all have learned from your past mistakes and will try harder in the future.

I know Wuzzer had no ill intentions in bringing this topic back. but I think SHOshop has already dealt with thsi situation and Tom has taken major strides in redeeming their cusromer service satisfaction. That being said, I am closing this to keep any ill mannered discussion at bay. Keep in mind this thread is OLD! I almost shit myself at first thinking Patrick was back.
