Hey guys,

If any of you have the airbox, let me know if you think it might be worth buying.

I have a K&N 0940 mounted a la v8sho.com instructions.
If I buy the box, will I be getting my money's worth over what I have now?

Thanks guys....

I have the 0940 setup on mine and I think the best method is to mount the conical air filter in the fender but that is a lot of work. If you don't feel like doing that then SHO SHOP Airbox is the way to go for the time being.

Only problem with the 0940 setup is the fact that the computer is quite picky about the sensor (soon to be fixed on mine) and the whole sucking in hot air thing. The closer to the front and the lower and furthest away from the engine the better.

My car has never given me a trouble code or anything like that, as far as sucking hot air, I'm sure I am, buit how much different is the SHOshop airbox in stopping that excess heat? Is it enough to warrant a $200.00 expense?

LOL, I put in a 3 inch air intake that consist of a few street elbows and a 4 inch opening that is positioned in the front of the car where the stock air intake begins but a little closer to the front air dam. My cone filter sits about 2 inches from the intake tube that comes from the fender. I tested the air intake by putting a ripped plastic bag in the end in the engine bay. Each time tested at speeds of 30,45 and 60 mph, the bag came out of the openning. It has worked great as far as bringing in cooler air.
I could especially tell in the winter when I would pop my hood and feel the cone closest to the intake and the cone would be cool to cold. The back side of the filter away from the intake is much warmer.

If you are interested, it only costs about 10 bucks, the SHO shop intake cone and baffel is waaayyy to expensive and I dont know how much more beneficial it is.
I am also in the process of making an air baffle that keeps the hot engine air away from the cone.

Hope this helps.

ok Ill be nice, Um the SHO SHOP kit sucks! well what I mean is you did the same thing for 50 instead of spending the outrageous price they get for that "kit" from there.

Any filter in the engine bay is NOT good but you have equaled what they produced for 1/3 the cost.

Keep what you have and get it out of the engine bay for a bigger and better difference

If you have any pics or specs on what you used, I'd very much appreciate it!

Prplsho, I'll get ya pics in a few days. I am going out of town and then I will get the digital camera out for some pics. It is really pretty easy. You should actually be able to use these direction right here.

1st: go to v8sho.com and follow the directions for removing the stock intake and trap.

2nd: start replace with new intake.
Supplies You need:
1. 2- 45 degree pvc plumming elbows (3inch)
2. 1- 90 degree pvc elboe that is 3 inches on one end and opens to 4 on the other.
3. Couple of zip ties

It is sort of set up like the porterized with an elbow in the fender opening but reverse the elbow so the bigger end is inside of the engine bay(this holds it in place and allows you to connect next elbow) Position the elbow so it is openning towards your cone and most imortantly so the back end inside the fender is close to the inner side and running down. Connect the next elbow and twist them so they are running down allong the fender, almost straight down and towards the front of the car.
Then attach the last elbow, the 90 degee to the end and position it toward to front of the car. I zip tied the 90 degree elbow to the car. There are a few different areas to zip to. There is a plastic flap down there that I used to secure the intake.
The intake should be a little closer to the front than the stock and should fit just fine.

Test the system by ripping a plastic bag in half and securing a handle to one of the rubber stoppers for the hood that is nearest to the intake. If the bag comes out, you have air flow.

The mod will take less than an hour. YOu will need to take off the inner fender lining of your fender and maybe your tire. I didn't take off the tire but it would make it a lot easier if you did.

Hope this help, Mike
