Hey Y'all...joining the party late with a 2015. Loving it so...only 700 miles so far. Have been be pumping 91 Octane Shell Nitro Premium (can't find 93 around my area) and will be lubricating with Full Synthetic Oil as she ages. Already concerned about DI engine issues with carbon deposits on the valves and oil waste build up due to the design of these types of engines. If I add a catch can set up I void the warranty as I understand it. What to do? Also any break in advice....haven't been babying it but also haven't been on her like I stole it. I live in WI so she is gonna see some harsh winter weather....any advice on this factor will be welcomed. Thank You....this looks like a very welcoming and supportive forum...thanks in advance to those with the knowledge and expertise for sharing with those of us who are not!

Welcome, Shohobo, and congrats on your '15! Did you get the non-PP or the PP option? Full synthetic oil is a great choice to help with carboning reduction. Although, supposedly, the valve cover is supposed to have been re-designed to improve the cleanliness of the PCV system, not perfect though. As far as full synthetic, you should look at the NOACK numbers also (typically found in product data sheets or PDS), these will tell you how volatile the oil is. You want to minimize the contribution to the problem from that angle as well. Amsoil is a top choice for this purpose, but you should compare to Royal Purple, Castrol, Valvoline, Shell PUP etc. to get a feel for it.

As far as wintercare, "humidity-controlled garage" is the way to go :D Other than that, get the paint polished & sealed with a coating like Opticoat/Optiguard, CQuartz Finest, Sonax Polymer Net Shield, etc. Even Collinite 845 or 915 does a great job of protection when applied before winter sets in. Don't forget the wheelwells/wheels either! Think about having a good undercoating applied (or DIY if comfortable) such as with a 3M product. After all this, find a decent full auto carwash and set up a routine regimen so that the topside AND underside of the car get washed each time. Will keep those sensors and moving parts on axles/wheels/driveshafts/etc from getting gunked up & rusted.

Thanks SHOdded....good info. I have a low mile '06 V8 Explorer that I will drive in the winter mainly and exercise the SHO weekly when the roads are dry. Have an engine block heater on the SHO to keep her internals warm. I didn't go with the PP package as a compromise with da wife...lol...i wanted it though....gotta do whatcha gotta do!
