Well, I got the tranny out of the 9D1 minus yesterday. It’s surprisingly easy when doing it at my house vs. Tom’s, probably because I don’t feel rushed to get things done. I used a cherry picker to support the engine which works really well as I can move the motor as needed.

Looking thru the differential openings, I can see that the 2 small pins are no longer touching the main diff pin. There are matching cracks on both the inside and outside of the bell housing where all the fluid has leaked out. Hmmm, wonder how that happened? :sun:.

Using the little tranny shipping pallet that Tom made for Beth and a floor jack, I was able to easily remove the tranny with no help. It will be interesting to see how it goes back in. Everything unbolted nice and easy, no seized bolts or nuts, gotta love AZ cars.

Pressure plate showed significant finger wear, and the clutch fork had left some pretty good wear marks on the TOB. I ordered new stuff throughout. I also got new rear main seal, carrier gasket, and pan gaskets too.

Sweet. You sure you don't need any sway bars, or another set of struts, or a spare flywheel, or a fan set from an ATX, or, well, I could go on for a long time.

I'm in the process of demodding the car bit by bit. Keeping the engine very Jacobson like. Nice and stock. Blew two tokiko struts out last year and replaced them with stock sensitracs. Cheap reliable and rides pretty well for my dd. That's non Eric like. No more 80mm or chip. Seems it alway ran a tad lean.
