SHO wont start! No spark, No codes!! Help??

Went out this morning to start my 89 SHO and It cranked as normal fired for a split second then shut off. I though I did not turn the starter long enough, so I tried to start it again and all it does is crank.

I got home tonight and I check the fuel pressure with a guage from the rail and It has 35psi with the key on. Then I checked all fuses. OK. Then I checked to see if I had spark at the plug wires. I have none??? I checked three different wires and no spark at all.

Then I used a jumper wire to check to see if I could get any codes. I get 11 and 11 again. So all is fine with computer but I still have no spark and the car will not start at all?

ANy suggestions? Could it be a failed coil pack? How do I tell? I just replaced DIS because car was shutting down once and a great while when I the previous owner was driving it. I check the codes when I bought the car and it had only that it could not hold constant idle during test. I am getting no crank or cam codes so it cant be that!!! No codes before and since I have been driving it for the last month. Now no start!!

Can you post more information on what you might have done lately, etc.

I have heard that the coil pack usually fails in pairs, and it is not a common part to fail.

Could you have a loose ground (Many of the bolts on the intake are grounds) the two bolts that hold the crossover tube down (DIS attaches to this tube) are critical to the car running.

Also, check to make sure the DIS is still OK.

You may want to also check the connections around the DIS from when you swapped it. The CPS connector plug is right in that region and you might have bumped it.

When I first got the car the owner said he parked it because it would periodically shut down on him. He said if he waited a 1/2 hour it would start back up.

When I got the car home from buying it i checked the codes and got nothing like crank or cam sensor so I thought maybe DIS so i just changed it for the heck of it. THats all I changed! THe car has been running fine no shutting off or anything. Now all the sudden when I tried to start it I lost all spark!

No codes in ECU. Could the crank or cam sensor be bad even when no codes are showing up?

I will double check all grounds and TPS and see. I doubt something just happened to it over night. I ran fine the last month. I just got up in the morning to start it cold and nothing. Ran fine the night before.

I would suspect the CPS.

It can be tested using the procedures posted previously by rangerj or by myself.

If there is no tach indication while cranking, that would be a strong indication that the CPS is dead.

When I try to start it the Tach jumps up to 250RPM everytime the engine cranks.

I will try testing the CPS and post my results.

I changed the CPS along with the rest of the Front 60K tuneup and car runs and starts like a champ. It is some times hard to figure out what sensor is bad on these cars I guess? Because I had no codes and I had a tach that moved when I tried to start the car but the CPS was still the problem.

I plan on replacing ROD bearings next then Upper 60K then she will run for a long time.
