ok. i've got a 95 MTX with 70,000 miles. The car bogs down at WOT, but if i ease into the throttle the car runs fine. When i drive up hills the CE light will come on but then go back about 15 seconds later. I have to let the car warm up in the moring because if i dont the car will just bog down no matter how much gas i give it. I ran the codes in it and came up with this:
111 - System Pass (KOEO)
189 - Adaptive Fuel Rich Limit is Reached (KOEO)
I also ran the KOER Test but I didnt get any codes. The 189 code i think means the left bank is running rich? correct me if im worng. Would this cause the car to bog down like it does? Is it possible that i have a clogged cat? I did just recently install a SHOshop CAI. That wouldnt have nething to do with the problem would it?

Have you every had a 60k done on the car? If not that is prolly the root cause of your problem. Do a search and you will have a pluthera of info about it.

The "60K" is not a magic bullet and should not be thought of as a replacement for proper diagnostic procedures. OTOH, neglected maintenance, if present, should be considered as possible root causes of performance problems.

From the 95 Service CD for a 189 code:

HA1 CHECK FOR OTHER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
====================================================================
³ DTC HO2S Fault Orientation Definition ³
====================================================================
³ 181 ³ Right or Rear ³ Rich limit reached ³
³ 183 ³ Right or Rear ³ Rich limit reached ³
³ ³ ³ at idle ³
³ 189 ³ Left or Front ³ Rich limit reached ³
³ 192 ³ Left or Front ³ Rich limit reached ³
³ ³ ³ at idle ³
³ These DTCs indicate the system is running lean, although strategy ³
³ adjusted it to maximum rich ³
====================================================================
³ 179 ³ Right or Rear ³ Lean limit reached ³
³ 182 ³ Right or Rear ³ Lean limit reached ³
³ ³ ³ at idle ³
====================================================================
³ 188 ³ Left or Front ³ Lean limit reached ³
³ 191 ³ Left or Front ³ Lean limit reached ³
³ ³ ³ at idle ³
³ These DTCs indicate that the system is running rich, although ³
³ strategy adjusted it to maximum lean ³
====================================================================
Possible causes:

-- Fuel pressure.

-- Fuel injector.

-- Air intake.

-- MAP sensor.

-- Fuel injector electrical circuit.

-- Fuel filter.

-- Vacuum.

-- Air filter.

l Are any other DTCs present?

Yes
SERVICE as required.

No
GO to «HA2».

Basically:

Check Fuel Pressure
Verify fuel pressure does not leak down
Check MAP/BARO sensor
Run cylinder balance test to see if one or more cylinders have injector problems

Pull one of your spark plug wires out. If you find it to be covered in oil, it is probably causing a misfire, which the computer interprets as a rich condition because the fuel/air mixture is not completely burned. Also, clean the MAF sensor filaments with a gentle spray of electrical contact cleaner. Has your car ever had the timing belt cheanged? If not, you are overdue, and if it breaks it will leave you stranded.

It could also be your throttle position sensor. However, if the KOER did not give any codes, it is probably not a sensor, it is probably your plugs/wires or, as you suggested, a plugged exhaust. You can test for that by separating the Y-pipe from the Cat-Back portion of the exhaust. Look into the Y-pipe to see if either of your cats have crumbled (there will be pieces or fine dust) and if you have access to one, blow a leaf blower through the cat-back, and see if it causes any change in the blower's pitch to hook it up. There should be no restriction when the air is blowing through the exhaust.
