OK... I went to Midas, and explained my SHO'S steering wheel shake to the mechanic. He checked out the front end, and said everything's tight. I asked him to make double sure, and he said the front end is fine. The tie rods, ball joints, and other stuff are solid. He checked my tire balance, and found that one was off by 4oz, one was off by 3oz, and the others were both off by 1.5oz. He put new weights on them, and corrected the balance. I was disappointed and shocked to discover that my SHO "STILL" maintained it's steering wheel movement, vibration, and shaking while driving after I left Midas!! I absolutely could not believe it. What else could be going on here squint

Did they check your rotors for true? You don't mention it, and as pointed out in your earlier thread that could be your problem...

And, again, I'll suggest NTB or Sears for front-end work over Midas.

OH you didn't know
When you say shaking...is it at certain speeds? Is it continuous? If at certain speeds...what speed? Do you have stock or custom wheels? Does it shake only when you step on the brakes?

The shaking is bad at 30-50mph and "SOMETIMES"--> When I reach highway speeds the shaking smooths itself out to the point where you almost do not notice it's there "Doesn't quite stop", but becomes drastically less. It shakes "All the time", and not just when I apply the brakes. I have stock wheels... Could it be a steering column problem? I am at my wits end on this shake issue!! What about a bad wheel bearing maybe?? Are these possible culprits? I also checked the muffler bearings "They appear to be fine" wink

P.S. "SHOSIG"---> Your SHO is beautiful!! thumb

Checking the front end parts that dotn roate won;t do you any good. Checking the rack, tie rod ends, control arms, not going to find a vibration from a rotating part.

Check tire balance, halfshafts, rotors.

It sounds as if you may have a bent wheel. Did you have anything done to your tires recently? If you had a flat and put fix-a-flat in your tire...that would cause vibes but also, if someone repaired a tire for you...they may have torn the bead area of the tire if they had to dismount the tire and this would also cause a "low speed" wobble or vibration.
Thanks Silver Bullet beer
