I am considering the SHO Source UDP for the crank.

My question is, if this UDP crank pulley is used, does it underdrive the water pump to the point where your car runs hotter, ie: not circulating the coolant as fast and letting the engine run hotter?

Please discuss...

Nope , the only downside I have found is that your lights are a little dimmer @ idle. That's about the worst side effect. lol.

I have had an UD crank pulley on my car for about a year now and I love it! The lights may dim a bit but nothing really too noticable.....that is the only negative.....the added throttle response is very noticable and it saves your accessories!

what about the missing harmonic balancer? Would that cause any issues in the long run? Thinking about the life of the rod bearings here.

I haven't heard anything, but has anyone had issues with this?

There is no isseue that I know of. There are lots of people with the ASP solid UDPs that have had them for years and have no problems.

its not a balancer on this car,its just a dampener.
these engines are internally balanced.

I've had mine on for about a year now with no issues. Definitaly seems to have more throttle response....probably a few extra hp too.

Come-on . . . Canada?

What about those that live further south, like where it really gets hot and for a much longer period during summer (AZ, TX, LA, MS, AL) ?

Personally, I can't see underdriving the water pump by 25-percent at idle, not resulting in higher water temps during stop-and-go city driving.

Honestly man.. and this is with my 4 peice, so I can't say what it is actually underdriving %wise... but my needle never really moves more than 1/8" on the highway. In town, I might move from the L of normal up to the bottom of M. I've never had an issue with it getting too warm.

But then again, I also have my tune which bumps my idle up a hair... 1000-1100ish..

Keep in mind, I am also considering getting a tune for my SHO. Don't know if that will make a difference or not.
