Well, I give up. Tried to drop this into my datsun 260Z and after all the effort the engine is just too tall. So here is what I got:

Complete take out engine with 46K out of an 89, has new valve cover gaskets and intake gaskets. I have the wiring harness and 2 pcm and a LMPand a new accel coilpack. As for the RWD parts, I have a 2006 Mustang 5 speed transmission. I made my own adaptor plate out of 1/4" steel. I bought an aluminum flywheel for a 4.6 cobra engine. Its a 8 bolt just like the sho but has a larger center hole and the bolt pattern is about 1/8 inch wider. Had a peice of aluminum turned down to reduce the center hole an marked the location of the holes and had them plug welded and the reducer welded in. Then using a pipe to center the sho flywheel over the cobra flywheel I used the sho flywheel as a guide to redrill the cobra flywheel. then took it to the local speedshop to have it balanced. I think it should work, but never got to test it. also have a 4.6 starter that should work with the setup.
Here's some pics of what I got:

Looking to get $1000 for everything but I'm open to offers. Will also seperate. Let me know if you have any questions.

Datsun Project

I had the same plans for my '82 Datsun 280ZX. If the hood was the only problem, would a cowl or custom hood of solved all the problems?

Did you have the motor mounts made?

Do you have any pics of the parts?

The hood was borderline. Still needed the intake spacer to be able to spin the intake. Biggest problem was oil pan. I could get it back far enough to drop it down around the crossmember but the bottom of the pan was about 3 to 4 inches below the crossmember. That's when I threw in the towel. I think the oil pan would have to be cut down and widened. I will get some pics up when I get home.

I'm interested - I'm looking at putting it into my Mk1 Cortina GT so I could use all of those bits - do you know the height of the engine?

I think the bigger problem would be the shipping cost!

Any photos so I can see what you have?

Tks

Sorry, haven't had much time over the holidays to respond and for some reason I'm not getting notifications. The Engine is about 28" from the bottom of the pan to the top of the intake. Would still need to space the intake about 1/2 inch to spin it around and clear the timing cover. I will have to set up a photo bucket account and try n get pics on or you can PM me your email or cell # and I can text you pics.

Really good start for a RWD SHO project. Wish I had fewer projects of my own, oh and the skills to accomplish the goal... lol

Best of luck getting this into the right hands.

yeah, figured someone with a ranger or fox body mustang might take interest. Hate to give up, but all my buddies are running LS engines in their project cars.

I am interested in the motor for my 93 SHO. It would put off a rebuild for quite a while.
What kind of price would you be looking at for just the motor? I am in Birmingham, AL and I would drive up to pick it up. email: [email protected].
