All of the sudden my 91 SHO is running really crappy. Take off is very sluggish and it feel and sounds like the car is missing very badly. When it hits 4k at the tach it sounds fine then bad there is just NO GO. I checked spark plugs, they were fine. THe engine just had a though 60k done on it about 15000 miles ago. So I'm kinda lost.

Oh and one more question. How hard is the right rear motor mount to change. Can anyone give me step by step instruction? shoot

Just a guess, but it could be your O2 sensors. Does the car act like it might be getting too much fuel to handle? When I bought my 89 it had a bad rear O2 and would barely run at all. Exhaust was nasty w/ raw/rotten gas smell, and when I hit the gas the car would either stall (flood out), or hesitate badly before revving. Try pulling the codes. The EEC should tell you if you have an O2 giving a false lean indication, mine did. Good luck.

If you have a dead cylinder it could also be a completely dead injector. I had one do that several years ago. A 5 cylinder SHO is no fun...

Well I replaced the O2 sensor, and still no better. I think that it's not hitting on all cylinder. It definitley sounds and feels like its not firing right. I may have to take it to the dealership. Unless any of you know a reliable place that is good with SHOs in the Tulsa Oklahoma area. The SHO bucks and hesitates and I can smell fuel almost like it not all being burnt off or something. I'm definately puzzeled here.

go onto shotimes.com and run a cylinder balance test off the computer self test. That way you can find out all codes, and it will tell you for sure if you have dead cylinders. Your car has it's own diagnostic tools, make use of them!

sho91mtx where do I go on that website to performe the cylinder balance test?
jonysho,

I was doing a search and found that your question had not been responded to. A good source of information on the EEC and cylinder balance tests can be found at the site below.

http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

I was just up in Tulsa for a wedding and job interview. My wife has lots of family up there and it is not out of the question that I may end up in the area.

OK, here's my take. i have a '95 mtx with a similar problem. ford did a diag and found that #3 cylinder is not pulling but spark duration is OK. this tells me it's air or fuel. i will do a compression test next. i will try to scan in the diag sheet but it is printed poorly.

what else should i look for as a cause for this?

i ran into someone else with the same problem i am having and they told me their problem started when they hosed off their engine comp. to clean it. i had my engine steam cleaned years ago and is about the time i started to have the problems. i think there is a connection but where should i start to look? diag says spark duration is OK so can this still be an electrical problem?

well not sure if this will work but sounds like the same problem i had in my 93. check your mass air sensor, there will be a little hole behind the wire meshing. Spray some intake cleaner in there (about 3 seconds), then let dry for about 10 minutes. Might not work but cheap and easy way of finding out.
