So i have a 93 3.2 ATX with a few problems. it has very little power. i believe a smart car has more torque than my sho at the moment. also when coming to a complete stop the car will just die and i am unable to restart it. and to finish it off the tranny is having a hard time shifting. I will let my foot off the gas and the car will continue to raise in RPM's until it shifts. as for down shifting it will not down shift in a timely either. any idea?

Any Codes? Even if the check engine light is not on there could still be some codes in the computer. When was the last 60K done? As to what you are saying, I am leaning towards crank sensor and/or vacuum leaks. Maybe even a fuel pump and filter is in your future. Need more info please.

Front 60k or top or both? Could be a sensor could be timing belt is off a tooth or 2. Could be a vacuum leak, could be a few things.

Strange tranny problems came come from the Vehicle Speed Sensor, the tranny won't know how fast the car is going so it does some weird WHAM! shifts when they aren't expected. If the car is in too high a gear (like it starts off in 2nd), it will appear to have little power. (Of course if your car doesn't have a 1st gear because the electronic shifting isn't shifting in the tranny, then you are borked.) VSS may not throw a code.

Car dying is probably a stuck or failed idle air control, unless the missing power is from a massive misfire or something. It might also be getting stuck open if you sometimes have high idle. If IAC is the problem, holding down the gas pedal a bit will give enough fuel to start. TPS too, I had a symptom of way too-high idle or dying after compression braking that was fixed by replacing the throttle position sensor.

Fuel supply and pressure should also be checked. It's time to replace the fuel filter if you've never done it, it could be plugged.

it was acting this way before top 60K was done. the timing belt on it i had replaced 3,000 miles ago and it never gave me any trouble until recently. I replaced the fuel filter 3 miles ago. as for a vac line i checked all that i can find. i really need to find a complete vac diagram to be sure.

Do the codes again and post the numbers here. People here know the "hidden" message behind the offical explanation in the code book for the various code numbers.
