I'm thinking of buying the SHO NUT clutch set,PP,disc,TOB, and pin for TOB. This is an OE set. Anyone use this set? For $219, the price is right, but how about the quality.

I put one in my SHO. I liked it. It looks like the one I took out.... No complants.

Do you guys remember if was a remanufactured clutch, Ford OE, or brand new aftermarket? I think either Valeo or Luk made the Ford OE unit.

If this is a new unit, I think it will fit my needs very well...and save me $100 in parts.

Dude, the clutch set is from SHO NUT, from Ford. It is exactly what the dealer would get you. Just make sure you install that TOB right, and threadlock the PP to flywheel bolts.

It's definitely OE. I have the same kit, but I got the wear parts too, and the ceramic bearing.

SHOnut's kit is made by Valeo which also produces them for Ford. I got mine from him and have no complaints on quality. The ceramic TOB is pricey but worthwhile.

If i got more straps for the PP,would it be possible to drill out the rivets and install stainless stell cap screws myself?I can get the extra straps to put in,but would like to upgrade it myself.

From what I understand it changes the wear pattern of the Throwout bearing. It's always under wear, the way its setup, and the ceramic has some good friction or heat protection (it looked metal to me, but then I'm no mechanical engineer). It's supposed to make the clutch last until the friction disk is worn out, giving extra years of life for your clutch (in theory).

The ceramic bearings inside the TOB have less friction. So the TOB spins up faster when it contacts the clutch fingers. Therefore the TOB spends less time slipping against the fingers and causes less wear.

Jeremy, you'd have to take it to a clutch shop afterward and get them to align the cover/plate, and balance the whole unit. But yeah you could do it yourself.

Got my SHO Nut clutch installed by drivinhard this summer. All is good. I would recommend it. The price is right.

Just ordered the clutch set SHO NUT, $219 to my door along with the lower control arm pinch bolts. Very friendly guy named Nick, answered all my questions and even gave me some tips for the install. Thanks for all the comments, now just get my tranny guy lined up for the install and Ill get my SHO on the road! Lets see, radiator showed up ($163 with tax), clutch and parts, $228, with labor for the clutch, I should be into my car just under $3000. Not bad since the motor has a verified 43K on it. Car itself has 157K on it, so brakes are long overdue as are the rear struts. Bot my goal of keeping this under $5000 seems realistic I think.

Thankds again folks...
