Went to start my Mothers SHO today and the title says it all. The tach moves so its not the CPS, I was thinking that its the DIS but it sounds really werid when cranking. Is there anyway to see the timing belt without pulling a cover off? I need to leave soon to go back to college so
I want to check this ASAP. It ran fine last night when I pulled it into the garage. It had its 60K done about 20K ago. Currently has 84.5K on it. Thanks guys.

Pull the oil cap off, and look in, you'll be able to see one of the cams. It should spin when you spin the starter.

Fuel pump priming? Make sure to listen for that. Check all the electrical plugs in the engine bay. Check the DIS grounds.

Also, my mom's atx had the CPS fail and it still registered on the tach. The sensor was dead.

Also, unplug the low coolant sensor, the ATXs have a weird short those can cause. Check all the fuses too.

I got it started, by opening the throttle 1/2 way. It acted like it was flooded. HUH? It ran fine after it was running. Seems to start fine now. We switched the DIS off my car and both cars run. I dunno. I guess we will keep driving it to see what happens. There is a coolant leak on the passenger side of the engine... Man I hope that water pump isn't leaking. The damn thing doesn't have that many miles on it. BTW the fuel pump is new.

I took it off and cleaned it once before because Mum said it was stalling. If I does it again I am replaceing the little bastard. She really hates it when there is something wrong. It sucked because we just put a stock CD in it so she was really happy and then it didn't start. It did ok today too. Thanks for the help guys.
