Hey Guys..start problems AGAIN..turn key ...click..click..battery was changed 2 months ago as well as a rebuilt starter..just went through the bills file and found that the starter was replaced with a new one 16 month's ago..I'm stuck at my parents place now...no tools..cleaned the battery terminals..were a little corroded..I know the battery may be a bad one...am charging it right now..question...how is the battery charged in these cars...i don't see a seperate wire going to the positive post of the battery..all my other cars had one from the altenator to the pos post...if i do get it started, i'm going to disconnect the pos terminal to see if she keeps running..any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... headbang

yeah a nice hammer to the starter will unfreeze it if thats your problem but you may even want to put new battery cables in. i had my cables go bad in february which prevented my car from starting and it also happened to my girlfriend's tempo this past weekend. put in a new negative cable and she was good to go. let us know how it goes.

Just reinstalled starter and a new ground cable...started twice and then on the third try...click click....can it be that when the starter was tested, it wasn't put under a load as i have the same problem...sure seems like a starter problem again...

i believe that its possible, although its just unlikely. did you change the positive cable also? how old is the starter anyway? if you want some mental reassurance then you might as well change it but it would be a shame to see you throw away money before knowing what the problem really is. it sounds like the starter to me though, ive seen the same thing happen on other cars myself. hopefully some of the others can help out some more. good luck.

Hey..Hey...car is fixed...finally...changed the cables to the battery...same problem...had a few neighbours hanging around last night..suggested removing the starter and bringing it to a reputable Starter and Altenator shop here is Sudbury...Brad, who has 27 years experience on rebuilds took a look at it and found the GROUND BRUSH screw threads stripped...he replaced the assy..charged me $25 and all is well with 95 SHO MTX again...it now takes me 30 minutes to remove and install a starter assy..so not a total waste of time...a learning experience....I'd just like to TIP MY HAT to experienced professionals that take the time to do make things right...thanks to all for the input...
