Drove up north 130+- miles Saturday to look at a C Max. Drove 65-75MPH with the A/C on. No Wind!
I pulled off half way to get a sandwich, stopped at the dealer looked at the C Max then drove home stopping at two more Ford dealers to see what they had. and drove home.
Pulled in my driveway the computer said I got 29.1 mpg.

I have found the computer always shows high on the reading. Regardless, congrats as it's still pretty good for the vehicle weight/size. I had similar results when I took my trip up North.

Next time I do a trip I will do the fill and refill at the pump to see if the data is correct.
After my trip I filled up, the miles to empty was 399miles.

My onboard info always shows higher at first and then slowly drops. By the end of a tank, it seems to settle at between 1 and 1.5 mpg higher than actual. That has been fairly true for all Fords I have owned. They are rather optimistic.

I'm sure your mileage was still pretty darn good though with that reading. Highest I recall seeing from mine was 24. By then end of the tank it was reading 21 with an actual of 20. I have yet to have a tank higher than 22ish. :(

29.6 is what I was getting to/from NW Ohio from Pennsylvania. Of course it was about all highway and this was the highest I've seen out of a round trip.

I was getting just north of 26 while driving through/in/around Cleveland for a few hours on a different occasion.

Back home where its a mix between highway, city driving, up/down hills, the MPG dances around 25 regularly

For the first 30K miles I had mine, the onboard mpg calculator was dead on, within a tenth mpg almost every single tank. I've had a caddy and a mazda that had onboard mpg calculators and both read higher than actual by 10-20% consistently. About 2 months ago I rotated my tires, now the front has noticeably more tread than the back, and now the calculator is reading about .6-.8 mpg higher than what I'm getting. I'm interested to see if it goes back to being more accurate when I get new tires put on.

Side note, I'm pleasantly surprised at how many miles I've gotten out of the tires. It will be either just under or just over 40K when I replace them. I was only expecting low to mid 20's.

Okay, Went on another trip today.
I got 510 miles on a tank of fuel! 460 real miles and 50 left on the till empty according to the computer
I used real fuel of 18.5 gal on pump click off and went 520 miles for an average of 28.10 MPG.
Who needs a C-MAX? They keep down rating of the fuel from 47 to 42 and now 40 MPG.
If ford keeps going in 3 years my SHO will get better MPG! "SMILE"
When I filled up. The computer said 491 to empty.

These non PP cars with the 2.77 gearing can get excellent highway mileage. They only turn around 2000 RPM at 80 MPH. If you can keep the speed in the 70-75 range, avoid boost when passing or entering freeways and not have a headwind, high 20s is very realistic. I have found the trip computer to be pretty accurate. Using the manual calculation method can be incorrect if you don't get the tank filled to the same level before and after, too. Factors such as how fast the pump runs, slope of the fuel station driveway, and other factors can affect how full you are getting the tank.

OH....I was just looking at your signature...sorry. Well then, apparently PP SHOs with the 3.16 gear also get good highway mileage!
