The EGR causes only a slight loss in power, very negligeable, as a tradeoff for better efficiency and cleaner exaust. Hardly noticeable.

Oh, thanks SASHO91, your tip worked, and it seems that my IAC valve is working fine, and other than a hard idle just after a warm start up from time to time and only 18 mpg's, the SHO is running very well now. Thanks for all of your input guys so far, I will make a donation to the forum in your honor right now!
If anyone else can think of what else to check for that won't throw a code that could cause poor fuel economy and only a slight power loss, please let me know as I am out of ideas!

Wow, it has been a while for this thread, but I had a chance to take a picture of the DPFE sample tube today, for those of you who asked, about half a year ago!:laugh_ti:
DSC00602

Anyway, it is the rubber line coming from the bottom of the DPFE sensor and that line connects onto a snout that comes off the metal EGR tube that travels down and into the exhaust manifold. If this line clogs, you may also get a 332 code, also caused by "clogged nostrils".

Anyway, the SHO was running really rich recently and I am trying to figure out why, so I revived this thread. It smells like raw gas coming out in the mornings from the pipes, and it even spews black speckles of soot/carbon/gas mixture for about a minute as it warms up, which leaves a mark on the driveway sometimes. Power is down off idle, and gas mileage is down to around 18mpgs. No codes at all though. I did change the ECU temp sender to see if that helped, but so far nothing. The car runs really well except for the performance issues and fuel economy, and once again, I have a mystery with this car. Any ideas on this one? Thanks!
