I'm looking for a mechanic to do the valve shims on my 93 MTX. 145000 and I don't think it's ever been done (judging by the copious oil loss). I also plan on throwing in some stage 2 cams in while he's at it :D . I live close to Detroit and I would be willing to travel upwards of an hour and a half to have the job done right. Help me out gurus, where should I go?

Would you rather learn to do it yourself with some help from someone who's done it before?

If so, I'll ask my Cleveland and Toledo buddies if someone would be willing to help you out. You'd buy and bring the parts, probably be responsible for renting the tools, and get your hands really dirty. But, in the process, you'll learn a helluva lot about the SHO engine.

Let me know and I'll make a couple of calls.

HunterVF in Kzoo might be able to help you out. He charge just charged me for labor. I ordered all the parts. Expect a little over $500 for everything compared to about $1600 from a stealership. His email is [email protected]
He's done about 10-11 60k's so far.

SHO n'prove - where in Royal Oak are you? I work in Troy at 15 & Stephenson Hwy.

I don't think that Chris (HunterVF) is doing 60k's anymore because he's getting ready to move. I could be wrong. If he is, he and Greg are a great team. They did my 60k earlier this year and she came home running 200% better! I'm sure there are more people in the MI area that can do the job, I'd feel comfortable doing the shims myself, it's not that hard, but you just can't rush with it. You also might want to contact Mark Mallory, he's in Toledo and might be able to help as well and is quite knowledgeable.

I live in cleveland and have a quote of around $250 for just the shims. The guy's shop is in canfield, OH (which is about 30 min south of me)
I have his number if you want it.
you can always get the 60k video and do it yourself(saves a bit of $$)
