Saturday evening, 12/12/20 my wife and I were involved in a crash in our 2015 SHO PP. Not sure yet whether it is going to be totaled or not.
Do any of you know if the airbags should have deployed from the look of the following pictures?

Everyone involved were safe with no injuries.

I think the airbag box is up front pretty close to the crash bar. They should have deployed but not sure if you were stopped either. Im not sure how these new cars work on airbags. Old car, you hit it with a sledge and the air bags deploy. Learned that the hard way.

May not of been a hard enough hit to inflate them. At some speeds its safer for the seat belts to do their thing then the airbags go off. Im not smart enough to wear a seatbelt. It dont even work in my 15' sho, wont click in like its jammed up from not being used.

First and foremost, I’m glad everyone is alright.

I hit a deer with my ‘16 last spring and my airbag deployed. The body shop nearly totaled it with around $11,000 in damage. So yeah, I bet you totaled it.

I would have expected the airbags to deploy from that damage. Unless the impact was mostly across the front rather than into the front. It would be for the best if that is totaled imho.

I just did an estimate for a 13 with less damage than this and it junked. I can see about $12-15k worth of damage just in your photos. Biggest issue is how far back that rail is roasted, you can section in fairly far back but if its into the apron (which I'm sure it is) its done for.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I agree it is toast. Just waiting on the appraiser and State Farm.

as far as anything that will be up for sale. Just two items:
Windstorm CAI
3 Bar Map sensor (if they let me go in and take it off)

Oh man STF, I'm actually the estimator for their account here at my shop, they do totals at 75% vs 80%. I'd start looking now in your area for your car with similar miles/condition for as much as you can find them for. They are going to lowball the shit out of you. They typically use NADA book vs KBB, so don't throw a KBB number at them it won't help you, look for big name dealers close to you selling them, that's all that can help brother.

If they try to fix, I am stopping the repair process and getting a lawyer to investigate the airbags.

Picture of my currently disassembled car for you but the crash sensors are on the frame.

I would think in this situation the air bags should had deployed but without seeing exactly the condition of the sensor it's hard telling but from what I'm seeing I don't think any manufacturer could justify them not going in that kind of front end impact.

Could the wires have torn before the sensor could send the signal to deploy bags ?

Not worth your time, the way the airbags work is more or less on a pendulum switch for lack of a better way to describe it. If they were required they would have blown, but its all based on a X speed - 0 mph or 0 mph - X speed. If you don't meet that requirement (per the sensor) it won't deploy. I've seen bigger hits on trunks where bags didn't deploy ****, we had a front end on a yukon where the frame was shoved over almost a full 2ft and the bags never went off. Just because you get a big front end hit doesn't mean they will deploy or that something is wrong because the didn't. You can certainly hire a lawyer and go through the process but you will not win or get anywhere with anyone. I've seen that play out a few times and I've only ever seen people lose their fees to whatever person they hired.

EDIT: Quick side note, if it fixes and you stop the repair, STF will NOT pay for a rental while you get it sorted out. Depending on the shop you choice whether DRP or not, they will be given a time limit based on hours/part availability, most cap out at 30 days or around $1000 whichever comes first.

Awhile back, I had read an article about airbags and the sensors, and IIRC, the front airbags were set to work between something like 17 and 45 mph (I don't remember the exact speeds).

My front airbag went off at 60mph when I hit the deer. The body shop guy said it might have been because I slammed on my brakes the moment I hit the deer.

Gotcha. Do not have a rental. Have a F350, Can Am Spyder, 53 F100 and 53 Customline. Stay away from rentals.
The other vehicle was traveling at 45 MPH and I was turning into the center turn lane and bam. I was going roughly 5-10 MPH.
