Doesn't look good. First diagnosis looks grim, gonna get a second opinion. If the second comfirms the first the SHO is going to be put away for the winter.

I need some tips on storing the car outside for the winter. So far I know I am getting a car cover. Besides that what do I do?

Thanks,

DO NOT let that cover even become remotly loose or you will be in need of a new paint job in the spring. Tyr to find a place outside that is mostly covered from all wind IF you do store it outside, or just dont even cover it at all, just let it sit. as long as it does not see SALT the car should stay ok.

And do the obvious make sure it has antifreeze!Another good thing to put in is the little dehumidifiying boxs that collect all the water it makes everything softer in the car and helps the interior last longer and smell better.Als ofilling up the gas tank all the way is good to kepp moistre from getting in the gas tan kthats all i can think of right of my head.

Make sure you give her a good wax before storing her out. Also, don't put the parking brake on as it may get stuck. Another thing, put some WD-40 on your brake rotors, and make sure you take it off with brake cleaner next spring because your rotors are going to rust.

Just a suggestion.....send it to Florida, I'll give it a good home with mine! Lots of SUN, no snow, trips to the beach, car show 2 times a week....Oh yeah, send sun screen too!

I stored mine outside for the last 2 winters. Here's what I know: NO COVER, it will beat the $h!t out of your car outside. Try to put it in the shade or put some card board up in the windshield and rear window to keep excess light out. Put a good coat of wax on it. WD40 your power antenna, not break rotors, yeah they'll rust but 2 good stops in the spring will clean them off. Change the oil, old oil becomes acidic = not good. Have a 50/50 coolant/water mixture in the radiator. Have a clean and dry interrior. Cillaca-gel is the bomb if you can get some (keeps interrior dry). Put some plywood down under car(2 8' sheets will do) to keep excess moisture from rusting underneath. Clear snow from around it ocasionally so air can get underneath to keep it dry.

First diagnosis is that I have either a blown head gasket or a warped head. I am hoping it is just the blown gasket. I have the head gasket, but I don't have the $$ to put into this winter to get it fixed. I just dropped $700 on new tires and some other things. I don't want to trade her in because all the things I have done to it will go to waste and I can't sell it to anyone knowing it has a problem like this.

I may keep it and find a new SHO (5-speed) and just keep it for a parts car. I will make this decision in the spring.

If I do fix it, I am going to fix the heads and also do the bearings.

As far as wax goes, right before it got cold I three step waxed and washed it. So, one more wash and it should be good for storage. I am going to do an oil change before it goes in.

Ouch.

Same reason I'm not selling mine. I've put too much work and too much money into it, and there's no way I'd get it all back by selling it. Better to just fix it and enjoy what you have.
