That sounds sweet....I just wished I lived closer to you so I could take advantage of this service along as putting my car on your dyno.

I'm loving the tunes....and can't wait for spring...when I'll put the stage 4 back in!!!!

currently running the stage 2....only because I want some torque management for the icy roads.....my paranoia

Can you explain the benefits of getting a dyno tune vs a regular mail order? Im about 30 minutes from you and wondering if the extra cost is truly worth it. I understand you can make some alterations since my car is there and you can monitor things, but how much different would a custom tune be from a regular tune?

.

Would this not have been done on a running vehicle to begin with? Are there variations that are great enough to require that said vehicle to be present in order to (finely) tune the programming?

There is probably another 5-10% of power to get from a custom tune specific to your car. Not every car is 100% the same and they always go a little on the safe side with mail order tunes.

this and also said vehical that was "lab rat" so to say may have different manufacturers of upgraded parts, witch all have different limits, specs, and capabilities.

You repeated exactly what I said when I asked the question. I would prefer an answer from Rick.

Of course, Rick could provide a better answer regarding potential results of a dyno tune vs. a mail order tune. However, the rest of us with the older cars have been going through this for years. Truth be told, any car will ultimately end up with a better tune on a dyno vs. mail order.

If you're going to upgrade, may as well take full advantage of it! :)

Had I been closer than 1000 miles, I would have opted for the package Rick has offered. I'd probably have gotten the entire group. But since it was beyond reason, I opted for the mail order tune. No complaints here. Maybe one day I can get to the shop and get true dyno tune. These guys do a great job which ever route you decide to take.

It's really nice to see that the new SHO can get so much power for so little $ compared to the older ones. I may just have to get one soon.

Sorry for the late reply. I posted, then went out of town for the weekend and couldn't find the post when I returned Sunday night.

The SHO has a wideband, so the benefit to a dyno tune isn't as great as with other cars that don't have a wideband. Local customers usually like to see their car on the dyno and get numbers from their own car.

What lowc said is more true of a car that doesn't have a wideband. A mail order tune is usually set up safer (richer) and doesn't always makes as much power as a car that was tuned on the dyno. Though, if it's a combo we've done several times this isn't always true. We do a lot of G8 and Camaro mail order tunes and customers have dyno verified them and they are typically always spot on and make the power we expect them to.

Thank you,

Rick
