Did they offer a heads up display option in the SHO PP cars ? Only asking cause the 2013 sho I just picked up seems to have a spot on driver side dash at windshield where a HUD would go like my vetts all have.
If so I wonder if I can buy the unit and the car has the plugs in place to add that just a thought if anyone had any experience with that ever also.

Thanks again in advance for you input or thoughts.

I believe that spot is for the adaptive cruise control. I don't think that was ever offered in a Taurus.

My guess is that the factory considered as an option but it never materialized if none did indeed come with it. Think I saw mention of it in the owners manual. Just speculating as I am very new to the sho.

Mine has the adaptive cruise control and the spot above the instrument cluster is blanked off as well. I do see a camera / radar in the windshield area near the rear view mirror.

That's what I originally thought it might haven been also as that is the only option I don't have due to the PP. It was just weird to see it in the exact spot as my vetts are located and made me wonder if I missed an option to get LOL.

Thanks for the info as I was just making sure myself.

HUD was an option for some Taurii, but it had very limited functionality. It basically just provided a warning indication associated with the adaptive cruise and collision avoidance system. You can read about the HUD functions in the "Instrument Cluster" section of the owner's manual.

If you want a HUD in your SHO, it's probably easiest to use Torque and a cel phone.

SHOrod is right, it's for the collision avoidance LED's. They flash if you approach too fast without braking. This warning distance can be set at 3 or 4 different distances. I always set it at max when my wife or teenager drives the SHO.
Its purpose is just to get your attention. In addition to the flashing LED, there is a beeping noise, and the brakes are pre-charged. I'm not sure what is going on with the pre-charged brakes, but, I do know the brake pedal is much more firm and the brakes grab faster.
A car came over in my lane on the interstate once, at 75mph, and slammed on its brakes. The LED flashed, beeped, and the adaptive cruise plowed on the brakes keeping me from hitting that person. While ****** at trying to figure out what the idiot was doing, I was glad I had the system.

I would love a HUD. There are many choices now, using cell phone apps and a plastic screen you apply on windshield and individual units too. Not too expensive A8 is popular, plugs into OBD port, around 50 bucks. Most were 35 to 400 bucks, more expensive had GPS directions etc .....there are many options now
