hi I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a trans to bolt to a 1988 3.0 sho engine for use in a rear wheel drive application

Haven't seen it myself, but I heard the tranny from an Aerostar will work. No idea about what mods may need done.

Perry has it correct, the Aerostar bellhousing and tranny will hook right up to the SHO engines. Turn that baby north and south and go to town. That's all I dream about, putting the SHO engine in a Ranger pickup. Just like the "SHO Ranger" assembled at Roush Racing. No 88's though.

Also, I am not sure about the tranny, but I know that to make an SHO RWD you need to canabalize a thunderbird. I believ the tranny from those will work as well.

I thought you needed an adapter plate for the bellhousing with the Aerostar, but it the easiest adaptable.A Porshe tranny has also been used.

And where was that article that had a sho in a 37 ford with an aerostar tranny and a ranger flywheel?

Damn, my v6 ranger looses a battle with a deer, (daughter was driving, rolled the truck, deer ran away, daughter walked away, truck got dragged away) I decide to part my 91 SHO and Ive got a 56 MGA that needs some modernizing. Is this going to be a fun project or what?
