I have a 90 MTX with the 60k just done (By Me) and I still have the same problems as before. It Missfires all of the time, except on the freeway?? I forgot to do the Crank sensor when I did 60k headbang I want to know what else it could be. I have replaced: Water pump, Plugs & Wires,Front seal, Timing belt, Coil Pack, Air filter, Synthetic all of the time. I am at wits end, I even checked the basics, Fuel but no spark?? If a sensor is malfunctioning doesn't the Computer shut off Fuel??? Help me please fellas cry

Definitely check your plug wire order as stated already. It is printed incorrectly in some publications. Has it misfired since you changed the timing belt or did it run fine for a while and then start acting up? I had similar problems and it turned out to be a bad computer. Be sure to check that the ground strap and the intake crossover tube are all bolted on correctly (grounding points) and your DIS module is in good shape. Hope you find the problem soon. On another note, you might want to rethink the synthetic oil. Do a search on oil brands to find in depth explanations.

I have tried all of these things, I still have no luck, i did infact have the wrong firing order (Damn Chiltons!!), but like I said it won't start at all. I am sure that it is not firing (Spark plug to manifold method), and I have tried the "Wire jiggle method" also. I still have no luck. Are there any sensors that control spark and not fuel?? Oh yeah, new DIS module and two old spares tried.

Does your 'Check Engine' light go out while cranking? If not this indicates no PIP signal to the ignition module. In this case I would guess crank sensor as well. Good luck.

Will the CPS make the car missfire too?? The CE light does stay on while I crank it, I really don't want to have to take the engine compartment apart again, but I guess I have too.

A freind has a '92 that he, and one of the local SHO gurus fought for a long time. The car mis-fired, but didn't set any codes. I posted this problem and Scott came back with: Misfire + No Codes = Plugs or Plug Wires. They didn't buy that for a second, saying that the wires were Ford items and only six months old. To make a long story short, they worked on this car for the better part of a month, finally involving one of the aftermarket scope manufacturers. When all the dust settled, they discovered that the six month old set of plug wires were bad and arching out on the cam covers. I didn't say "I told you so"

The OEM plug wires are good, I havent heard of any problems with them. A test you can do to see if the're arching is run the car at night when its dark and look for the spark jumping from the wires. My guess is a bad CPS, but check out the wires first.
