Ok I know there has been talk and mods allready done where you can illuminate the emblem in your dash. I really really want to do this, BUT I can't find an active link!! All the links are dead!! I searched and just couldn't find one! Anyone wanna explain it or give me a valid link, thanks in advance!

What I'd do (and I'm gonna do) is goto RadioShack and pickup 3 x 12volt colored LED's (whatever color ya want) and wire them in series with one another (inline). Then hook a small wire to the ends and run it over to the fuse box. RadioShack sells "fuse taps" that plug in with the fuse allowing you to piggy back other stuff on it (I already have my radar detector on the accessory fuse). You'll wanna hook it to something like the accessory fues so it'll come on whenever you turn you SHO on. If you want to, you can put a switch inline so you can turn it off and on (I'm gonna). The other option would be doin' the above with a small neon tube. Lemme know if you have any other questions about it. :D

I was just gonna buy like a mini red light for mine from advance auto or something, but its kinda pricey for a small light, like $17.99. I was going to wire it into the autolights since you won't really be able to see it during the day anyhow.

Just remember that the EATC inside temp sensor is supposed to be located behind this emblem. Putting a bulb there could affect its readings.

LED's DO put out heat, they are not 100% efficient, but they are nothing like incandescents. The problem, though, is that if you really want to get a good look, you need to put something in there to scatter the light. To do this you basically have to block off the purpose of the emblem, which is to allow air to pass so the sensor can get a good reading. Move the sensor and be done with it, I say. Then place a white opaque filter in there and put any source of light behind it you want. Or use EL lamps.

I diffused mine with brilliant white paper.

If you look behind the sensor there is a tube that gives the sensor its air.

My EATC works fine, and I used an LED.

You can hardly feel any temp from this LED. Its incased in thick plastic.

On mine its directly behind the temp element, and all you see is the opening. You can follow it behind the glove box.

Dave-

How did you get the light to disperse at the end of the cable? I've got a solution that might work well for this situation- ther is a company that takes fiber-optic cables and makes a woven mesh out of it (like fabric), where the light will emit uniformly. You can place the LED anywhere you want. The cost of each would be cheap, it's just the tool-up charge that bites ($500). I've been trying to locate a piece already in production for a different project; they may have something that will work for this. I've got a sample that puts out a tremendous amount of light off one LED.
