Hey my car is down for the winter. I am going to put it in the garage and want to work on it what do you all recommend that I change or clean. Got a shop manual coming in the mail. so I will be able to tear down some of the car to work on it. Just need to know what should be done. Want to build it up but got to get running right first. Also; got a spare tranny that is going to be rebulit what do I need to have put in it. Keep hearing about having the differental welded what do you all mean. Confused on that.

People like to have the diff welded in order to keep the pin from blowing out of it. i havent had any diff pins come out on me and ive never worked on the tranny, so i cant tell you much.

over the winter you should do a front and top 60k. I would also change the rod bearings.

Plugs, Wires, Valve cover gaskets, cam seals, cam sensor, timing belt, water pump, crank seals, crank sensor, high flow y-pipe, BBB's and some 96 brakes. i would recommend doing the suspension a much as possible. the suspension is the best dollar to excitement ratio on the sho.

i think most people treat the sho like cocaine. they do the bbb's and y pipe first, when they feel how good of a gain they got its all downhill from there. theres no other bolt on gain like those two. so people do all sorts of crap just to get a gain like that again.

best appearence mod for the gen2, clear corners and tint.

Not looking for flash but want to look tight. Thanks. Will have to start digging in here soon since I am down till Feb when I get my tax return to get tranny done unless I do it myself which I have heard is a horrible job. Will start looking into doing some of these maintance and mods.

If you are going to have the intake apart for cleaning and BBB I would also gasket match it and port out the secondary runners. If you want to save a few bucks you could make your own BBB. Have a machine shop open them up....then you can either use the stock plates with the stop ground so they are more vertical (not what I reccommend) or there is a guy that you can order plates from (they are from a certian Weber Carb).

I definatly say maintinance first. Suspension makes the car fun to drive. With the MTX video from Shonut you could do the trans yourself (thats what I did). When you have it apart you could get the diff welded...there are a bunch of pics if you search. Just take your time and have fun
