How hard is it to change the DIS module on the sho and is there any place i can go to find detailed instructions on how to do so. Also some instruction on the CID sensor would be nice just incase this isn't the fix for me. anyways thanks.

What type of problems are you experiencing? Changing the DIS is, as about as hard as lifting the hood and removing some screws. The DIS is mounted on the passenger side of the intake, on the crossover tube. There are two electrical connnections you need to remove and then four "bolt" screws on each corner of the DIS. Take it off apply new heatsink compund to the new one and reverse the steps.

Easy to change. It is located on the passenger side of the intake and has 2 wire connectors attached. It is held onto the intake crossover tube by 4 small hex head screws. Be sure to use some thermo paste on the back of the new one. Do not over tighten as the screws can break off fairly easily.

Sounds like you're just throwing parts at the car in the hope something fixes it.

There is plenty of diagnostic help here to keep you from wasting your time and money. All you have to do is ask for it.

Ok i had an orig. post that my problem was... the car isn't getting fire to coil 1 and 3 and it isn't related to the plugs or wires because its not even getting out the coil pack... changed the coil pack and still nothing. check engine light came on with code for bad wires. so the guys suggested it was the DIS or CID

Be sure the power plug to the coil is secure. This happen to me and the sealing gasket on the plug was bunched up. Even though the plug was cliped into place it was not making good contact. You can also try to put a slight twist in the female terminals on the coil. This will ensure a good contact fit. Make sure there is not a lot of grease on the plug too.

Since you failed to specify whether you have an ATX or MTX..

If an MTX, make certain the rear DIS connector is not making physical contact with the rear engine roll dampener.

When "it" happened? Care to elaborate? I don't know if there is a current troubleshooting post for the DIS, but you might want to try a search for one and check your DIS inputs and outputs against it. That way you can eliminate or narrow down the problem to the DIS, without just replacing parts and hoping you've found the problem.

As i was driving down the high way the car suddenly lost power and started missing terrible, we had the cats checked and they were fine and they put it on their machine and sorry i don't have to codes but when i take it to the shop again i'll have him pull them for me... but they read that 1 and 3 wasn't getting any fire. my dad who does the work but has no idea how to use the net tested it from the coil pack and all of them were getting fire except 1 and 3 we tried replacing the coil and that didn't help, changed wires and plugs... though i may do the plugs over because the only plugs we could use was napa triple plats and most places say on sho you should used motorcraft plugs....

NMI - Need More Information.

You say that all of "them" are getting spark but for #1 and #3? #1 and #3 what?

Here is the spark plug wire and cylinder layout:

Cylinders
Firewall
1-2-3
-------
4-5-6
Radiator

Coil Pack
Firewall
5 | 1
6 | 2
4 | 3
Radiator

There are only three coils that fire six spark plugs. If you are referring to #1 and #3 coils then you only had one coil operating, #2. Since each coil fires two plugs, that means that only two cylinders were getting spark, #2 and #6. The engine cannot run on two cylinders with any load if at all.

If you are referring to #1 and #3 cylinders, then that means that two coils of the three are not producing spark and you would again have only cylinders #2 and #6 getting spark.

Please feed that engine the correct spark plug.

i know i haven't given you all much information but i had already got a dis module and i changed it today and the car is running good... i figured that someone who owned the car before me used a dis module made by standard and once i pulled it off i heard something rattling inside of it broken and replaced it with the motocraft one i got and so far its running well. thx
