So, I've noticed an odd thing as of late....and I can't help but wonder if maybe it's related to the god awful ticking/slapping/knocking noise I get sometimes while in motion. I've only had this problem a few times, but every so often, it gets REALLY hard to move my shifter. Almost like moving a spoon through cake batter or something like that. Downshifting and upshifting. It wasn't hard to get in gear...no grinding...no odd noises....just hard to move the friggin stick.

Is this related to my previous problem posted in the temp forum? Or am I dealing with somethign completely different?

*EDIT* I guess I should mention that after moving the stick around (in tonight's case, I just went from 5th down to 2nd downshifting, threw it in neutral and rocked it back and forth a few times), it loosens up and goes back to normal.

Rod linkage is fine....I've not torn my shifter apart to check anything under there.

might need to just put some greese in where that little rubber ball floats around.at the end of the shifter rod.

not saying this is your problem but my 93 had a ticking/knocking from the trans for about 3-4k miles and then it started getting loud one day and pop blown trans. Mine did it all the time, if you put in in first and just drive under partial throttle so your exhaust/intake isn't loud, it started to make a ticking/knocking at like 3-4k rpms and just got faster with the rpms. I couldn't figure out what it was so waited it out and pop.

Had same issue on my previous sho , but it was in extreme cold temps (-30 celcius) Was prolly just the oil in the tranny that was like molasses.
