shifter **** questions

I just ordered a new shifter **** from a particular member on this forum for my 92 and it is extremely hard to screw on.

I'm not sure what year this new one is from but it's giving me an extra hard time screwing on to my 92 shifter.

Any suggestions?

This one also looks a little thicker around hte base than my original 92 ****.
