Hey all. I was wondering if the shifter linkage in my 94MTX had any replacable parts. I assume I have a rod shifter. I ask because shifting doesn't seem as smooth as it should be. It almost feels like halfway between gears something is binding up a little bit. It's most noticeable between first and second, then less between second and third, and feels ALMOST perfect from then on. I have no issues getting into any gear although I usually shift into first before going to reverse because I believe I read to do it in the crumby owners manual. Cold weather seems to make it more noticeable and seems less so the longer I drive it (to a point) A parts list would be very helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Mike, I believe what is going on is that the trans has some wear, possibly a clutch with some wear, My 95 MTX is the same way, cold it is harsh, warm it is ok. I'd start by changin the fluid with BG Syncro-shift fluid, then see what happens. Most of what you are describing is normal from what I know of (I have had 4 mtx SHO's), hope this helps.

So then there are no bushings or a cable or anything that wears out? I will try a fluid change with quality fluid and see if that helps. Thanks guys.

there is a ball and socket that you can replace inside of the rod shifter, I dont know if it will help but if it does I would like to know. I have some what of the same problem.
