shifter help

ok i got soemthing else broken i need help with... the button on the auto shifter has popped out.. like the retaining clip or w/e holds it is is broken.. right now i got a sock over it to keep it from popping out to far... i was wondering if anybody else had this porblem before.. and if so how do u fix it??/ do u got to buy a whole new shifter or is there some kind of rebuild kit for it.. any help is appreciated thanx
