Recently ive been having issues in park where i cant shift out of park and it takes awhile with hitting the brake and getting lucky. Not sure if its just because of the cold recently either. Brake switch seems to be working as normal also. Anyone else have any issues with their shift lock on 2013 and up?

Sounds worse than it is. Just have to be careful not to lose the shift linkage if you disconnect it from the shifter assembly. After that, with a little TLC, the microswitch can be replaced, and you are back in business.

Um. The bsi uses the brake pedal input to release a solenoid in the shifter so you can shift out of park.

The switch in the shifter is a park detect switch. Is everyone on the same page?

You need to see if the solenoid in the shifter has power ground.
Most fords have 2 "brake" switches one for brake lights. One as a redundant.

I did not look up the wiring diagram and speaking generically off of memory.

I took a look at the brake shifter interlock on the 13. The brake switch is an input to the system and cost not directly control the brake shift interlock.

The BCM provides power to the brake shift interlock solenoid in the shifter. So I would still volt drop the solenoid to see if it's an input or output if you dont have acess to a scan tool to look at D.T.C.s and PIDs

Yea no dtc’s at all but my obd link will show PIDs. Noticing some other electronics issues like the back passenger side door window button not working but sometimes working, but will always work from the drivers door. And some other things that bothered me i cant remember right now but my battery is also original to the 2015 MY. I know a few people with the 2013+ Taurus in general and they have all told me about the endless electronics issues and battery issues and a guy a work telling me he had to replace the battery many times until he got rid of it. Maybe its the battery. Some days shift lock works fine, last week it gave me issues. Worked fine since but today it gave me issues, may work fine tomorrow
