I think I have a bad trans or motor mount?

As I accelerate slowly, I can feel the trans move a little bit, (or at least the shifter/rods) combined with a rubbery creaking/squeaking from the area around the shifter handle.

Also, sometimes the shifts are a little notchy, sometimes they slide right in, no resistance.

Related?

Thanks for the help...

Kinda sounds liek some of the problems im having. When i had my clutch done i had them check the tranny mount which was ok. Im going to be putting all my suspension stuff on soon hopefully that'll help. (End links, sway bar bushings, sfb's strut rod bushings)

sounds like a motor or tranny mount. Maybe your subframe has shifted. Doe sit do it more under harder acceleration? How about braking?

Haven't noticed it under braking, but most noticeable when leaving from a standstill. It creaks from 0-5 mph (?) and then is OK. Creaks on shifts if they are long.

?

Thanx

That's because the motor torques in the engine bay under load. That creaking is something moving or giving while the motor torques. If you keep your foot on the gas, the motor will stay torqued back. When you let off the gas and jump on the clutch, the engine returns to its original spot until it is under load again.

So something is moving. Check SFB, motor and trans mounts. Jack the car up and look for bad suspension components. Also, check your exhaust from front to back, as that whill shift if brackets are corroded and could also be a cause.

Well, I was sicker than crap this weekend, so I didn't crawl under the car but I have come up with some more answere to prev. questions etc., and I'm waiting to check the bushings after work one day this week. Couldn't do it this weekend, because I didn't feel like driving into work to get the car indoors, and the 'Stang is in winter storage in my garage right now.

But...

It creaks at the shifter/console before and after shifts, (not hard shifts, but I didn't shift it hard all weekend- more on that later)
So, there is movement, from the torque letting up on the engine before shifting, and torquing it back after shifting. The rubbery noise is definitely there, though.

I'm with the SFB's, as since I haven't shifted the car hard for about 3 days, the tranny isn't "notchy" right now. Meets no resistance during shifts, everything is lined up well. :)

If I were to run through the gears tomorrow morning, I'd bet my SHO's rustless trunk that it'd be notchy afterwards due to the subframe shifting.

So, just wanted to update some questions that had been asked earlier, and I'll report more later, after I get the car up in the air this week.

I've also got to convince my dealer that my car should have the SFB recall done. headbang
