Did a search but no luck. Is there an aftermarket oil pan that is shallower than stock? I'm looking to gain about 2".

TIA

I have one that a guy from the XR4Ti mob modified for me. Just took a notch out of the bottom, so it's still just as deep. I'll try and get a pic for you.

On another note; I don't have any of the black or grey connectors that you're looking for with those specific wires in them.

I do have the two brackets (one cast steel and the other stamped steel) that you need for the alternator. I'll email you the cost.

Thanks all. Guess I'll consider the cut & weld option.
Just removing 2" off the bottom is going to result in loss of oil volume. I'd like to be able to widen the pan as needed also to retain the same volume.

Curious that the SHO performance places haven't tried this.

I'll watch for your email Tom.

You will have widen it quite a bit if you cut 2" out.

This was v1 which was ~ 4qt. My final design is out being welded but once its back I can post pictures of what I did.

The way I'm approaching this is by having a remote oil filter setup with twin big filters
In order to add more oil capacity so there are no issues with a modified oil pan. Which. I'm doing on my project too.

Curious, why would you want to have a shallow pan? On a rear wheel drive I can see the advantage if your trying to clear the center cross member.

I know I thought of doing this when I put this engine in my Honda, pan was sitting way too low but then I saw the trans sits at the same level so even if I raised the pan the trans would still be the low point. So I left it and mounted the engine a bit higher and made a lower intake and DIS module mount, I think I have about 5 inches of ground clearance.

Im in The same boat with my datsun project. just wondered if The oil pan off a 3.0 aerostar would be close on The bolt pattern. Would be nice to find a steel pan that could be widened.

Cut'n'weld is the only option, and any more than 1.5"-2" is pointless anyways, past that the flywheel is the lowest point. Unless of course you're going with a smaller flywheel too, but most trannys hang that low as well.

At the risk of being redundant, you want a shallow pan, why? Are you trying for some dry sump build?

He's putting an SHO 3.2 into a 914 Porsche. The Porsche pan is a lot shallower than the SHO's. He's using the stock transaxle.
