This is on my '93 ATX.

For the last week I've been getting this shaking, I only get it while accelerating, it starts at 40 and seems to drop off at 80, unless I give it hard acceleration at that speed. Feels as if a tire is severely out of round, however the tires are 4 weeks old, and have already been rebalanced but the shaking continues, also as I said it's only when I accelerate not just all the time.

I'm thinking it's the trans, but I am open to thoughts that it could be other things! Please someone say it's something else. Axle, mount, something easy like that :nut: What do you guys think?

I would start by looking at the CV joints. Do you hear any popping or clicking noises when your turn?

was the shaking like the dash jumping up and down alot? mine is doing that and i thought it was tires, so the axle swap fixed it then?

Axle swap will probably fix your issues too, justin...I'm in the same boat.

Just need to decide if I wanna do both and not take a 50/50 shot at it.

When you go to change your passenger side axle, you don't need to remove the intermediate shaft...therefore, you don't need to refill the transaxle. It might be the "right" place to start.

HOWEVER, the intermediate shaft HAS been known to cause the phantom shaking that we are hoping will be cured with axles.

Here's a pic of a prime candidate for the "shakes"

got all 4 tires balanced and bought the drive shaft last night, the tires seem to have fixed the issue , no more shaking what so ever so i think i will return the axle.
