I making some SFCs and I don't have access to the car to take measurements. Any one have Shorty SFCs know how long they are, or what gauge steel is used. Thanx in advance.

the distance from the rear weld point to the closest point on the 'frame' is 46"-47" i had a set installed and have since removed them in favor of long ones

the long ones seem much better suited for chassis stiffing. they are made of 1" square tube with a 1/8 wall thickness, about 72" long. then bent with a shallow bend 46" from one side.

good luck

deconblue said: "BTW that's 1" x 2" steel tubing."

really...i was talking about two 1"x1" sqaure tubes partailly (50% of total length) welded down the center to make a 1"x2" bar (weld them after the bending!!). that makes a bar with four vertical walls vs. everone elses two-wall design. i would almost recomend square tube slightly larger than 1" because the 'frame rail' is just a shave wider that 2" and they can be tough to weld on one side, sometimes, due to the shape of the bottom of the framerail.

this is defintly a case of spend time makeing it, or spend money buying it. to each, his own.

Yes that maybe stronger, but it will weigh more. We didn't have any problems welding them to the uni-body channels, but then as you said to each his own.

Toolman,
How much do your long SFC's weigh? Whats the price difference of the shorties? Thanks.
