I used the search button for SFB replacement and I am still a little confused. I see that I have three possibilities:
1) Stock SFB
2) Police Edition SFB
3) Solid Aluminum SFB

I am leaning towards the Police Edition since I want to have better handling, but not at the expense of ride comfort. I read on some of the SHO specific sites that the Police edition SFB require the Recall to be performed. Why is this necessary? My SHO is a east Texas car that does not have any rust!

Exactly what does the recall parts replace and how does this help? Can I install the Police Edition SFB without the recall performed?

Please let me know my options. I have basically replaced all the front end components except the SFB and the tack weld as per TSB 9534 - "Rattling or Clunking Noise From Front Suspension."

Who is the best supplier for the parts?
I would also like to install the Strut Spacer for fix the "Grunting" noise at the same time.

ShoShop?
CINCYSHO?
SHONutPerformance?

I would like to help out the SHO parts community.

Thanks,
Michael

If you're even remotely interested in the AL SFBs, find someone around there (I think they exist) that have them installed in their car and see if you can get a ride in it. They're not that bad, actually, I've never thought that they affected ride at all. The biggest thing I noticed was that the engine sounds a bit louder and gnarlier just because it transmits a bit more vibration into the car. I had people asking what I'd done to the engine to make it sounds cool, but it was just the SFBs.

The "police" bushings are pretty much the same as the stock bushings, it's not really an upgrade.

The rear Gen III Taurus bushings can be used on the Gen I and II (they will fit front and rear), and they are a much better bushing than the Gen I and II stock bushing.

ALSBs are the other option, of course.

Do you have the part number for the newer generation SFB? Are these a direct fit on my 1993? What about the newer generation SFB makes them better?

Thanks,
Michael

I can't believe people still ask about "police" bushings...

"POLICE BUSHINGS" ARE JUST REGULAR STOCK BUSHINGS PAINTED BLUE. That's it. They offer ZERO performance other than the fact that when you install brand new bushings they will be a marked improvement over worn-out stock bushings. Zippity doo dah. Every time I see "police" bushings for sale on eBay, a whole bunch of morons bid them up absurdly high. I think I'm going to buy a can of blue spray paint and start selling painted stock bushings on eBay! :thumb:

Josh's site has the Gen 3 rear bushings at http://www.shonutperformance.com on the Performance page.

Just a quick FYI, the Gen III subframe bushings are found on the SHONUT Suspension page:

http://www.shonutperformance.com/Suspension.htm

Josh mentions that the Gen III bushings require slight notches to be filed in the Gen I or II subframe, but many people just grind off the little alignment ridges that are on the bushings instead, which takes less than 5 minutes for all 4 corners.

I went with the Gen III bushings from SHO Nut Performance as you have suggested. Hopefully it will fix some of the noises and problems I am hearing.

The car sounds like it is hitting the ground when I go over a major dip in the road. And I have the "Rattling and Cluncking" the rest of the time. I also have the "groanind of the struts during cold weather(also ordered the strut spacers).

Thanks for your suggestions and help. I will update my progress as I go along with the modifications.

Thanks,
Michael

I expect you'll find a noticeable improvement with the Gen III SFBs over the worn out factory bushings. I've certainly appreciated mine over the past few years. Installation is pretty straight forward. Let us know if you have any install questions.
