While shop was replacing the passenger-side rear wheel bearing, they damaged the sensor wire. The Advance Traction Service warning light came on, along with Traction Control & ABS icons. They ordered the replacement, but received the wrong part number. They spoke to Ford to learn the replacement part sent is the proper part. They replaced it but lights are still on. They did more investigating & was told something similar to... ‘since the new sensor isn't the exact same, the readings could be off from the others, therefore, causing activation of warning lights.’
Really??? This sucks! Had the wheel bearing replaced approx a year ago (at different location) & no issues.

Can anyone verify this or have more info??

It looks like the parts supply is starting to dry up and consolidate as far as some replacement parts go. Do you have the original oem Ford part number? Might be some floating around in different databases. Not all dealerships and oem Ford parts sellers are linked.

If I couldn't find a new old stock part I might consider used from the correct year.

Good info to know - Thanks
Never thought about a used part.
Off to get both part numbers & continue my journey.

if/when you get the old Ford part number post it so we have it, and I and maybe someone(s) else will look around.

Called shop & got the OEM replacement part number. Unfortunately they didn’t write down original OEM part number.

I don't have a backwards part number search. If they only offer 1 replacement now, they will show all the previous ones and I don't know which is which. Maybe Chad can pull it up. I'll look around but the original part number narrows the field.

I'll ask the shop again when I go back next week.

I wonder if you will have to replace the other rear sensor or the other 3 to get them in sync

That's kind of what I was thinking. They'll warranty the one sensor, but the other three you have to pay for. :/

:shrug:We’ll soon find out. That’s what they want to do if the next replacement sensor doesn’t work. Fingers are crossed :shrug:

That's the nature of these things unfortunately. New SHO, same quality issues. Now with more electronics and moving parts.

Update:
Forget the previous posted replacement part #.

Original: AE93-2C190-DE
Replacement: AE93-2C190-BC
The scanner read that the replacement part is in wrong position. Skipping over details, they want to replace the wheel bearing with a OEM wheel bearing. Apparently there are others having same issues.

I'm going to strongly disagree that Ford would build a new part that would induce a fault. If it was required to all 4, the dealership usually has a note about this in their parts catalog. If this was the case, the company would be eating all the service part warranty. Now I may be able to say that the company does care when things cost them money.

With no publication indicating you need all 4 sensors, something is fishy.

Another note, not all ford/lincoln dealerships use the Ford parts catalog so aftermarket parts catalog can be wrong. The ford catalog can also be wring some times.

You may be able to find the original part number instead of the superceded part.

I can believe that the bearing may be bad and is not providing a good signal to the abs module.

Another good trick if posible and not knowing if this is true. If the wheel speed sensor for the axle (front/rear) you can try swapping the sensor left and right to see if the fault follows the sensor. It may be a bum part. Not the first time, nor the last.

I dont recall, but there are peeps here with parts catalog acess, and you can go to Fordparts.com to punch in your vin and see what part the car is supposed to be equipped with.
