Well after I thought the solenoid was bad, I checked the vac lines and found out they were reversed on the reservoir. (I just bought the car last week) After checking to make sure the secondaries were closed at idle, I ventured out for a drive...

I started noticing a SLIGHT (and I mean SLIGHT) buck when I got off the throttle or on steady throttle cruising. After noticing this, the dash caught my eye as the CEL would go on then itd go off after a second. My questions is 1) does the ECU hold onto codes even though they are currently setting off a CEL? 2) What CEL would be set up by making the secondaries active?

The car has 73k and has stock wires & plugs (for now). Just bought new plugs & wires from RCMautomotive and will be installing a new fuel & air filter too. Thinking about cleaning the MAF while I'm in there. I just seafoamed the intake and it was quite dirty to say the least!

yes, at any point in time if your car does a system check and a certain part fails it will store a code.
Thus is a stored memory code
If it fails TWICE IN A ROW, it will throw a DTC and leave the check engine light on for most problems.
This is a Continuous code.

Just pull the codes from under your hood and go look them up. shouldnt be hard
