I took off the cover, and had my wife rev it to 3500 rpms.
1. The "actuator" is right next to a belt, right? What is that belt running?
2. It actuated, but it seemed to open and close after it was revved, not at the moment that the revs were the highest. Is this normal?
3. The motor moved quite a bit while revving in neutral (blipping the throttle). Is this normal?

The belt is running the water pump. The secondaries should actuate when you open and close the throttle very fast at least once after you have reved the motor.

Normal is relative to how much it moved. I have mine chained down so engine movement is held to a minimum.

With stock motor mounts (no good aftermarket or otherwise YET but I know it is in work) This motor moves all over the place, do not be alarmed. It really is a pain with the FSTB trying to position it to keep everything from hitting.

Also you can rev the car without being in the car, just give the throttle linkage a pull. In park she is rev limited to like 3500 so pull the throttle and let it bounce off the limiter, you should see the secondaries actuate, and release when you release the throttle Sometime on idle down they may open and close one more time, as long as they close back up and there is no SES light you are all set.

Interestingly, my motor moves hardly at all in the mounts when surging the throttle, and my FSTB never comes near touching anything, other than the strut towers that is. wink

I only saw the secondaries open once upon revving. That seemed to be only when the idle was going back down. Is this normal?
