I have seen people use the flat piece taken from another seatbelt and plug it into the latch. That usually stops the chime, but that was years ago and I don't know what interfaces there may be anymore.

seatbelts are overrated. I much prefer the feeling of the steering wheel turning into a taco as my body slams into it during an accident.

I do believe there are sensors in the seat that recognize whether there's someone in the seat to prevent exactly that...but I could be wrong.

I believe the sensor you are referring to is for the 2nd generation airbags that adjust the force they deploy with depending on the weight of the seat occupant. And the sensor in the passenger seat will deactivate the airbag if not occupied (saving money following an accident).

I'm going to be a smart A$$ here,:naughty:, so please don't yell at me.

:evilgrin:Doesn't anyone ever read the owners manual anymore? What your looking for is on page 173. Anyone in there right mind who doesn't wear a seat belt in today's driving world, might be missing a few chimes on his/her own!

Nothing wrong with being a smart a$$ in this case Bob......It might just make someone think and save their life..

......and yeah there are a lot of us here who read the O/M but there are a few who miss its wisdom.

If the passenger seat is empty, should the airbag disabled light be on? I just noticed it the other day and can't remember if that's normal. And I've had the SHO for a year and a half

Sorry i asked

Nah! Don't be sorry for asking anything here. Just be prepared for some flak
on safety issues. Since it's against the law in most states anyway, "not wearing the belt", we're looking out for you better good and your wallet.:)

You made me go out a look at mine. It comes on at start up, and goes out with nothing in the seat, IAW just like the manual says on page 182.:sun:

:thankyou: I'm getting a list together to bring the car in for. Besides the airbag light, the top half of my rear defroster isn't working and my dash lights dim to half brightness when I turn on my headlights. I thought it was normal, due to the decrease in voltage when you turn on your headlights, but then on a long trip, the dash lights got brighter all of a sudden. They went back and forth a few times during that trip. One time, my dash lights didn't even come on when I first started up the car. I had to fool with the dimmer switch to get them to come on.

The dash light adjuster works for lights on and lights off, and yes there are two different settings available ans stored for each state. I crank mine up all the way with the lights off so I can see the instruments/speedo easur in bright daylight and keep thin at half dimm with the headlights on at night to reduce glare. There was a comment in a review about how poorly lit the instruments was with the head lifhts off so I discovered the 2 settings.

Aha, that's good to know. Thanks Bill.
