I have a pretty good leak from the case halves in my 91 MXT. I really don't want to split the case to fix this. Aircraft engines have split cases and they tend to leak as the age. I fixed one by cleaning the case halves and coating with JB weld. It worked just fine and held for years. (If you are from the FAA - I just made all that up from whole cloth; no truth to it at all. Lier Lier)

But an A/C engine doesn't get as hot as the transmission and I think expansion and contraction would fail the repair. In another post, someone said they cleaned the flanges well and sprayed some permatex product on the leaking case halves.

What can you suggest???

Thanks for the help.

I hate to say it, but my recommendation is to split the case halves and reseal it with the correct anerobic sealant. Anything less, and I woul dnot feel right about it.

Then again, you could take a box of Band Aids and use them to seal the seam by overlapping them really tight ;)

Duct tape is your friend.

Seriously, do it right the first time; there won't be a second time.

Yank off about 50 times, save all the ****, and wipe it on in the same fashion as you would do a turkey for Thanksgiving and Voila!
